This is an authentic DEAD TILAPIA fish from the Salton Sea! (No really, it is a dead fish harvested by the filmmakers from the shores of the Sea, varnished with countless coats of lacquer, and then sealed in a 8.5" x 11" shadow box.)

Framed in a beautiful wooden frame and labeled with an old typewritten label, it harkens back to 19th Century natural history specimens you might see in a museum or your crazy Uncle Harry's house. This is truly a unique item, which is available only in limited quantities. As of late, it has been hard to find a good dead tilapia carcass, so get one while you can!

Each piece is a true original. We show pictures here, but remember that every one is different. Some have decayed more than others. Each fish has it's own personality and each is its own distinctive piece of art. Each one is lovingly crafted by hand on our kitchen table by filmmaker and dead tilapia artist, Chris Metzler. And don't worry, it WILL NOT STINK UP YOUR HOME. Metzler has been perfecting his technique for some time now and these things are lacquered and sealed quite well. We have had one framed above our office's faux fireplace for quite a long time and have had no problems at all.

This is the perfect gift for the slightly strange or morbid person on your list. How often can you give someone a dead fish for Christmas or their birthday? We love these things. We have a big one up in our own office. We sent one to John Waters. I sent one to my mom.

It is now harder and harder to find a good dead tilapia from the Salton Sea, so get them while they last.
